Havana, Cuba – Jan 2012

¡Hola! Welcome to Havana, Cuba, an old city full of colours, history, and urban ruins. A photographer’s fantasy land. A tourist’s eye opener. An earth trotter’s open university.

46 hours was definitely not enough time to spend in Havana given the places to visit and flavours to savour. The wedding was the main occasion and major cultural experience. Next time, should we have the chance to go there again, we’ll explore more the historical and cultural events.

Varadero, Cuba – Dec 2011 pt2

Finally, I get time to finish editing my Cuban photos. Lately I’ve been quite busy, hence my own photos have been sitting on the back burner. Ah well.

Sharing with you the following, more photos taken in Varadero. Next time I’ll show you some of Havana!

Varadero, Cuba – Dec 2011 pt1

I’ve always wanted to visit Cuba, ever since adolescence, and particularly when I started learning Spanish at age 20. I just found it being a fascinating country to see and learn about. Lo and behold, suddenly last year my wish came true – my husband’s niece is getting married to a Cuban in Cuba! So there we went, first to Varadero, a practically tourist resort, in which you feel absolutely safe and free to be yourself (more like the party self). LOL.

As expected from years of yearning to and dreaming of going there, I took literally thousands of photos. Below is just a few to share. More to come, I promise! =)

Occupy Vancouver – Nov 2011

Day 22 at the Tent City, Occupy Vancouver

If a picture paints a thousand words, these images and signs should tell the world what is wrong with it.

Facing a dismantling injunction, inhabitants were gearing up to protest and resist. It was intense, one can smell it in the air.

If taking down the Tent City meant the end of the movement, the movement hasn’t succeeded. It should be in the daily living of all people who care. And we all should care – unless you make 400K CAD or more a year, you’re one of the 99%!

If all things had to end at some point, let’s hope this public gathering will get dispersed peacefully.
